The Purpose of MIBC is a Biblical purpose based on I Corinthians 3:6-10. where we read that one plants and another waters but it is “God that giveth the increase”. Then in verse 10 Paul reminds us that it is all “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder”.  Simply stated our purpose follows the motto Building Better Lives.  How do we do  that?

 

1. By Loving God

 

We must develop a heart for God if we are building a truly better life.  It all begins with a right heart.  It is all about knowing Him.  This aspect of our purpose has to do with our relationship to God and it is a matter of worship.

 

Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.

 

2. By Growing Together

 

We are a body that is growing together in Jesus Christ.  We are seeking to build better lives on the foundation of a right relationship with God and His Word.  We are seeking to build our future on that same foundation.  This is a matter of our sanctification and our fellowship.

 

Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

 

3. By Serving Others

 

We will truly build better lives only as we Love God, as we Grow Together and ultimately as we live to Serve Others.  The church does not exist for those who wish to be the centre of attention, but for those who desire to invest their live in a worthy cause that can truly make a difference in the lives of so many others.  This is a matter of our involvement in evangelism, discipleship and meaningful ministry.

 

1 Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
