NETS is the church-wide soulwinning ministry of Mississauga International Baptist Church. The Biblical basis of this ministry is found in Luke 5:4 whwere Jesus commanded Peter to "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a draught!" The fact is that Peter was content to lower only one net when the Lord was calling him to a deeper level of faith and commitment. The Lord was calling him to greater involvement.
We believe every Christian should be involved in some aspect of the soulwinning ministry and that a greater investment of resources, time and effort shpould be made by many, not just a few, to reach our community for Christ.
Purpose of NETS Soulwinning Ministry
The purpose of the NETS soulwinning ministry is fivefold.
1. To raise awareness of the need for and possibility of evry local church member being involved in some facet of soulwinning ministry.
2. To employ a wider variety of means in the soulwinning effort than are employed in traditional soulwinning programs. Nets, not just a Net!
3. To encourage as many as possible within the local church to be active in their obedience through involvement in soulwinning ministry within their community on a regular basis.
4. To assist the local church in effectively reaching as many unsaved with the gospel message as possible through the ministry of it's members.
5. To draw the net of salvation and seek to assimilate new believers into the life and ministry of the local church.
The Teams
There are four soulwinning teams that comprise this program. First, there is TEAM Supplication which is all about praying for the soulwinning ministry of the church. We might call this "upreach" or talking to God about men. The next three teams are involved in "outreach" or talking to men about God. There is TEAM Saturation who are involved in sowing the seed through distribution of gospel literature. Then there is TEAM Salutation who's focus is on engaging people in conversation about their soul. Finally, we also have TEAM Salvation who work for the harvest of souls with a view to retaining those that are saved and assimilating them into the local church.
